The site of the PhysHex Games. (2008-2012)

Hi, my name is Paul Wortmann (aka RoboPaul), welcome to my site.
I am a hobby game programmer, with many ideas and simple games in development.
I have an interest in programming in general, but mostly for games and robotics.
Due to university studies and work, I am unfortunately not able to devote a lot of time to game development. I am still actively developing games, just not spending as much time on them as I would like.

My ultimate goal is probably to create a feature rich action RPG game with a highly interactive environment, bountiful loot, random maps, physics and particle effects... well maybe one day? Already "Frost and Flame" is far beyond that of my previous RPG creations.
Although nowhere near a playable game, yet...
My favorite games in this genre being Sacred, NOX, the Diablo series, and the first two Fallout games, and that is probably where I derive most of my inspiration for this genre.

Latest news on the game development front:

Frost And Flame
Project Started 2011-11-11
The underlying framework and menu system are nearing completion.
A lot of the in game  UI has been completed, along with basic tile rendering and maps.
Many items, books, potions etc... have been implemented, along with random item generation.
The more I work on this game and continue to think about what I would like to accomplish, the more I am inclined to drop the 2D world and implement a 3D environment. I wish to implement a variety of OpenGl lighting / shadowing and particle effects, and the more I think about it,  the more it makes sense to go full 3D. I do like 2D isometric, but the potential gains associated with a 3D environment, and the potential to create a more visually appealing and immersive environment far out-way its complexities...besides I prefer a challenging experience rather than just being a code monkey. :P
Most of the art used so far in this project is from the awesome site of http://opengameart.org/

Star.P.G. is now a side project, as I concentrate on the development of "Frost and Flame."!
